April 2017 – Sustainability Champion Keith Monahan

Keith Monahan has served many roles in the South Jersey region, contributing momentously to sustainability efforts across several municipalities.

He serves as an Education and Outreach Manager for GMO Free NJ and Seed Librarian for South Jersey Seed Circle Library, as well as mentor for the Oaklyn Green Team and volunteer of the Collingswood Community Garden.

As an active member of the Tri-County Sustainability Alliance and Collingswood Green Team, Keith has contributed to the Green Festival, Sustainable Jersey applications, the Complete Streets Policy, the Cut It or Leave It program, and many more.

A strongly proponent of vegetarian and vegan diets, he offers knowledge on countless areas, especially on the environmental consequences of various diets/agricultural systems.

Keith always makes himself available to support new gardeners and assist those who may need help due to disabilities or other restrictions.

Overall, Keith uses his vast storehouse of knowledge, experience, passion for the environment, and his love of being with people in meaningful conversations to weave together many different groups of people who are all doing great work but who may be focused in one group or cause so that there is a bigger impact.

We are proud to recognize Keith Monahan as our Camden County Sustainability Champion for the month of April.
