October 2016 – Sustainable Champion Jessica Franzini

This month’s Sustainability Champion is Jessica Franzini.

Jessica is a resident of Pennsauken and has been a Program Director for the NJ Tree Foundation since 2009.  She partners with community groups and volunteers to plant street trees in the City of Camden.   These trees help improve the air and water quality while beautifying the residential community. Since working for the NJ Tree Foundation, she planned, organized and implemented the planting of over 1,000 large street trees in Camden.  Some trees weighing over 500 pounds.

Jessica is a founding member of the Camden stormwater collaborative team, Camden SMART, which diligently strives to improve the quality of life for the residents of Camden City through a myriad of innovative green stormwater management techniques including over 50 rain gardens. She serves on the Camden Green Team which has developed a water conservation and sustainability ordinance for Camden City.   This is the first such ordinance in the State.

Jessica is also on the steering committee for the Tri-County Sustainability Alliance, a regional hub for Sustainable Jersey.    The Alliance represents Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester Counties.  Through her leadership, she has helped organize events to educate the public on topics such as water quality. Jessica’s energy and passion for environmental stewardship and sustainable living are infectious to all those around her.

We are proud to recognize Jessica Franzini as our Camden County Sustainability Champion for the month of October.
